ISRO launched the SSLV-D3-EOS-08 mission to deploy a small Earth observation satellite, marking the third flight in the SSLV series.

This mission completes the development phase of ISRO’s Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) series.

The SSLV rocket, standing 34 meters tall, can carry payloads up to 500 kg into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

 The launch, initially planned for August 15, 2024, was rescheduled to August 16, 2024, at 9:19 am IST from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

 The mission aims to build and launch a microsatellite, develop compatible instruments, and test new satellite technology.

The Earth Observation Satellite weighs 175.5 kg, uses 420 watts of power, is built on the Microsat/IMS-1 bus, and has a mission life of one year.
