Indian PM Narendra Modi launched Kochi's first water metro, connecting 10 islands on the Malabar coast via battery-operated electric hybrid boats.
The water metro will connect 10 islands around Kochi, starting from High Court-Vypin to Vyttila-Kakkanad terminal in its first phase.
Passengers can book tickets online or use the 'Kochi 1' card for travel, with prices ranging from ₹20 to ₹40 and weekly/monthly passes available from ₹180 to ₹1,500.
The project costs ₹747 crore and includes 15 routes spanning 78 km, connecting various islands in the region.
